Sunflower Farm

A place where Longmont families can slow down, explore and reconnect with farm life.

Children with a farm animal at Sunflower Farm in Longmont, Colorado

A Longmont place built for discovery

Tucked into Longmont is a place where children can meet animals, climb, explore, play outside and experience the rhythm of farm life in a way that feels completely different from a typical afternoon out.

Sunflower Farm has become a local favorite for families looking for hands-on experiences, open space and a chance for children to simply explore. The farm combines animals, outdoor play and learning in a setting that encourages curiosity instead of rushing from one attraction to the next.

Sometimes the best local places are the ones that give families room to slow down, get a little dirty and make a memory together.

Why Sunflower Farm is In The Spotlight

Loving Longmont created In The Spotlight to go beyond a directory listing. We want to share the stories and experiences behind the businesses, events, places and people that make our community interesting.

Sunflower Farm is a natural first feature because it is more than a place to visit. It gives children a chance to interact with farm animals, explore outdoor play spaces and experience a piece of Colorado farm life close to home.

Farmfest and family time

During public Farmfest hours, visitors can spend time around farm animals and explore the property at their own pace. The farm experience may include goats, sheep, cows, horses, chickens, peacocks, llamas and other animals, along with play areas and farm-themed activities.

Families may also discover features such as an old airplane, sandboxes, bicycles, tree houses, playhouses, zip-lines, swings and John Deere tractors. Seasonal experiences can add even more to a visit, especially during fall.

Learning through farm life

Sunflower Farm also offers educational programming centered around nature, animals, play and farm experiences. That mix of learning and unstructured exploration is part of what makes the farm feel different from a traditional attraction.

For children, a visit can be as simple as meeting an animal up close for the first time. For parents, it can be a chance to spend a few hours outside together without needing to turn the day into a complicated trip.

Planning your visit

Public access is offered on scheduled Farmfest dates, and advance reservations are required. Hours, seasonal activities and ticket information can change, so check Sunflower Farm’s official website before making a special trip.

If you live in Longmont and have never visited, this may be one of those local places worth adding to your list — especially when you want a family day that feels a little less ordinary.
